About

The CITTER Therapy Specialist is a one of a kind programme we offer. It is centered around the ancient Citter, teachings and practices. Therapeutic massage is the focus of the training and practices – just to get it right and to exactly know what you are doing to bring wellness to your client.

Therapeutic massage may relieve pain by way of several mechanisms, including relaxing painful muscles, tendons, and joints; relieving stress and anxiety; and possibly helping to “close the pain gate” by stimulating competing nerve fibers and impeding pain messages to and from the brain.

Therapeutic massage is an active area of research. In particular, it has been studied for its effect on pain in the back, hands, neck, and knees, among other areas. A study published in Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice showed a reduction in hand pain and an improvement in grip strength among people who had four weekly hand massage sessions and did self-massage at home. They also slept better and had less anxiety and depression than people in the control group who didn’t receive hand massage.

A study published in Annals of Family Medicine found that 60-minute therapeutic massage sessions two or three times a week for four weeks relieved chronic neck pain better than no massage or fewer or shorter massage sessions.

The CITTER Therapy Specialist is trained over and over again to be a specialist in his or her area of specialisation, so that they identify and are able to give the required service by working with their clients to develop individualized plans using a range of massager techniques designed to restore function and to reduce pain, to improve the quality of life of the client. These kinds of therapy are an active, not passive, form of therapy.

The CITTER Therapist Specialist is also trained for sports professionals. Athletes can seem to have superhuman ability, but they’re very vulnerable to injury, including the repetitive use injuries that come from using the same group of muscles over and over. This is one reason sports massage therapy can be so instrumental. Another reason: massage can help a person perform at his or her peak.

Scott Hamilton, 1984 Olympic gold medalist and 2015 American Massage Therapy Association national conference keynote speaker, credits massage with adding three years to his career (http://www.amtamassage.org/articles/1/News/detail/3193). In an AMTA interview, Hamilton likens the body to an instrument that has to be in tune.

The Ancient Citters were aware of the limitations of body and mind and to enhance they had various formulations that they used 1000’s of years ago to enhance the capabilities of the body and to take care of it.

Some sports professionals have reason to be grateful for massage therapy — and some massage therapists have reason to be grateful to the sports industry. It can offer a career far from the traditional. It can be a chance to immerse oneself in the pro sports world even if one’s own physical skills lay elsewhere. Some massage therapists travel with sports teams. Therapy can take different forms: pre- or post- event sessions, maintenance between events, rehabilitation after injury. Massage therapists often interact with other sports health professionals. They are team players in more ways than one.

Sports massage based on the CITTER Tradition and its products can make a world of a difference.

This is the practice that C I T T ER provides now in the 21st century, to train young people into a profession to bring relief to all people of all ages.
