Rheumatic diseases are more than just aches and pains. They can affect all age groups and vary in severity. They often involve

body-wide immune dysregulation

and systemic inflammation, in addition to specific flares.”

Rheumatic diseases are inflammatory, autoimmune, and degenerative diseases that can affect the whole body. RA is a systemic disease and can affect major body organs such as the eyes, lungs, skin, heart, kidneys, and nervous and gastrointestinal systems. It can also affect the blood and cause anemia.

Unlike the wear-and-tear damage of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis affects the lining of your joints, causing a painful swelling that can eventually result in bone erosion and joint deformity.

CICRS is an independent centre at Chidambaram reflecting on the progress of Rheumatology in the research, diagnosis and treatment of the various rheumatic diseases.

It serves now as an international, interdisciplinary group of workers involved in problems of rheumatic diseases. Coverage includes the management and treatment of rheumatic diseases, and extends to all modern trends in clinical research.

CICRS also looks into skin conditions associated with rheumatic diseases and ensures accurate diagnosis and management working with clinician familiarity with the dermatological manifestations of rheumatic conditions and providing such needed treatments based on ancient Citta systems of treatment and therapy.

The most common finding in patients with rheumatoid arthritis is rheumatoid nodules. These typically present as skin-coloured, firm, painless subcutaneous nodules of varying size over the extensor surface of the peripheral limbs and trauma-related areas. Internal organs, such as the lungs, can also be involved. Histopathology is distinctive, with granulomatous tissue changes within the dermis with surrounding histiocytes, lymphocytes and giant cells. Rheumatoid nodules are closely associated with severe disease, rheumatoid factor positivity and titre. Lesions may progress to infection or ulceration.

We address the skin manifestations of lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, dermatomyositis and scleroderma, including their implications in diagnosis, prognosis and treatment.

Several skin manifestations have been described in the progression of various rheumatic diseases. In addition to their medical implications, these skin manifestations can be a source of patient distress as a result of symptomatology and cosmesis. Cutaneous features may precede, co-exist with or follow development of the rheumatic disease. Cutaneous manifestations allow diagnosis of rheumatological disorders. An understanding of skin conditions associated with rheumatic diseases ensures accurate diagnosis and management. Cutaneous manifestations of rheumatological disease are legion.

The ‘wear-and-tear’ effect and knee pain!

  • Is knee osteoarthritis slowing you down?

  • Do you find it difficult to walk long distances or climb stairs?

  • Have you been suffering from chronic knee pain?

If you answered 'YES' to these questions, you’re not alone.

Knee osteoarthritis is a common condition for millions of people all over the world.

  • Daily walking, bending and standing is hard on your joints and can cause damage. Most of the time, the body system repairs this damage before it affects the cartilage. But once the cartilage is damaged, it cannot repair itself. This is why people with osteoarthritis experience progressive worsening of their joints.

  • Damaged cartilage results from the ‘wear-and-tear’ effect and causes the pain and stiffness that many experience with osteoarthritis.

  • Current treatments available for knee osteoarthritis only focus on symptomatic relief.

In some cases, knee replacement surgery is required.

However, these options don’t target the root cause of osteoarthritis.

A different approach to treating the condition is needed.

This is where the Citter System comes in.

OSTEOARTHRITIS OF THE KNEE

Osteoarthritis of the knee is a very common musculoskeletal disease affecting over 10 percent of the adult population and is a leading cause of disability within the United States alone! Osteoarthritis causes pain, stiffness, and loss of joint function.

If the disease progresses, the joint may become completely useless.

Osteoarthritis of the knee can trip you up, literally and figuratively.

At The Citter Clinic we have ancient methods to bring relief.

We offer Non-Surgical Treatments & Therapies for Osteoarthritis of the Knee at our Centre in Tamil Nadu, INDIA.

All International Patients can contact us by mail to arrange a consultation to begin with.

This will enable us to take the right decision and system of treatment and therapy that is needed for the individual patient and his or her needs.

KNEE PAIN CAUSED BY OSTEOARTHRITIS

Osteoarthritis can occur in any joint, but it's very common in the knees. Also known as degenerative joint disease, osteoarthritis develops over time, when the cartilage that lines the weight-bearing surfaces of the joints begins to break down and wear away.

For some individuals, the wearing away of the cartilage of the knee will result in pain, stiffness and swelling. These symptoms can range from mild to debilitating.

Knee osteoarthritis is the most common form of osteoarthritis in the United States. This condition is caused by progressive degeneration of the cartilage in the knee joint, which protects bones in this area from rubbing against each other. While there is no cure for osteoarthritis, also referred to as wear-and-tear arthritis or degenerative joint disease, treatments can help reduce pain and inflammation.

There is no cure for osteoarthritis in the wester system of medicine and treatment. Gel injections are meant to mimic the knee joint's own natural lubricating properties and provide temporary relief for an undetermined period of time only.

Future Arthritis Burden

The prevalence of doctor-diagnosed arthritis is expected to increase in the coming decades. By the year 2040, an estimated 78.4 million adults aged 18 years and older (25.9% of the projected total adult population) will have doctor-diagnosed arthritis, compared with the 58.5 million adults in 2013–2015. Two-thirds of those with arthritis are expected to be women.

Also, by 2040, an estimated 34.6 million adults (43.2% of adults with arthritis or 11.4% of all US adults) will report arthritis-attributable activity limitations!
